House investigation into DeepSeek teases out funding, security realities around Chinese AI tool

A House panel has concluded that the U.S. government should double down on export controls and other tools to slow down the progress of Chinese AI companies like DeepSeek, while also preparing for a future where those efforts fail. Derek Johnson has more.


Dozens of lawmakers question DOGE’s use of AI

This week, dozens of Democrats wrote a letter to Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought demanding information on the Department of Government Efficiency’s unauthorized use of artificial intelligence systems. In it, they expressed concerns about privacy and security risks associated with the group’s use of federal data in unapproved AI systems, as well as potential conflicts of interest involving Elon Musk, who leads an AI firm called xAI.
